The Digital Lifeline: Why a Kindle is a Recovery Girl’s Best Friend

They say you can’t travel when you’re stuck in a recovery boot, but my Kindle told a different story.
I’ll be honest: when you’re navigating 84 days of recovery from a broken foot, POTS flares, and Fibro-fog, the last thing you want to do is wrestle with a heavy physical book. For me, my Kindle was more than just a device; it was my portable sanctuary.
One of my big goals for this year was to finally tackle the series on my TBR (To-Be-Read) list. I officially finished 30 books during my recovery, and I did it all by ‘binge-reading’ series.
The Magic of the ‘Digital Series’ Binge:
There is something so satisfying about finishing a book and having the next one in the series ready to go with a single tap. No waiting for shipping, no trips to the store—just instant comfort.
When the brain fog is heavy, I don’t want to learn a new world. I want to stay with the characters I already know. Whether it was diving into the small-town charm of Elsie Silver’s worlds or finishing a long-awaited fantasy series, the Kindle made it effortless.
The Best Part? No heavy books to drop on my face when I fell asleep mid-chapter (we’ve all been there!), and no straining my wrists during a flare.
P.S. Bringing that ‘Instant’ Magic to the Shop!
Just like my Kindle made reading easy, I want to make shopping with StillSheCreates easy too. I’m officially back to 100% handmade in-house production. And to celebrate my first boot-free steps, shipping is now FREE on my website and Etsy! 🛍️✨
