How the Clean Mama Routine Saved My Low-Energy Life
Happy Cleaning Tuesday!
Let’s be honest… ‘cleaning’ and ‘low energy’ don’t exactly mix. For years, I was stuck in a “boom-and-bust” cycle. I’d have no energy all week, see the mess pile up, feel overwhelmed, and then try to tackle it all in one massive, exhausting marathon session on Saturday. It was awful, and it wasn’t sustainable.
I was desperate. I knew I needed a system, not just a ‘to-do’ list.
And that’s when I found fellow blogger Clean Mama (Becky Rapinchuk) and her life-changing cleaning routine.
I did not invent this system, but I am a real-life testament to it. It is the only thing that has ever actually worked for my low-energy life, and I had to share how I make it work for me.
The entire system, which you can find on her blog, is built on a simple “5+1” concept: 5 small habits you do every day, and 1 weekly chore. This is how I implement it.
Part 1: Clean Mama’s “5 Daily Habits” (The Game-Changers)
These are the 5 small tasks she recommends doing every day to maintain the house. This is the part that prevents the overwhelm in the first place!
- Make the Bed
- Quick Floor Check (She calls it “Check Floors”)
- Wipe Down Counters
- Clutter Tidy (She calls it “Clutter”)
- One Load of Laundry (Start to Finish!)
- I’ll add my own note here: this one habit alone was worth it. Eliminating the ‘laundry mountain’ was a total game-changer for my stress levels.)
Part 2: Clean Mama’s “1 Weekly Chore” Schedule
This is the ‘deep work’ part, but it’s broken down so you’re only tackling one zone per day. Here’s her schedule, which I follow closely:
- Monday: Bathroom Day
- Tuesday: Dusting Day
- Wednesday: Vacuum/Sweep Day
- Thursday: Mopping Day
- Friday: Catch-All Day (This is her genius day for catching up or cleaning out the fridge, which I use every week!)
- Saturday: Clean Sheet Day
- Sunday: Rest Day! (Just the Daily 5!)
Why This System is PERFECT for Low Energy (My Review)
This is the ‘why’ for me. If you also struggle with energy, this is why I recommend her routine:
- It Kills ‘Marathon Cleaning’: The 4-hour Saturday ‘panic clean’ is gone.
- It’s Flexible (Hello, ‘Catch-All Day’!): If I have zero energy on Tuesday and skip ‘Dusting,’ I don’t feel guilty! I just move it to Friday.
- It’s About Habits, Not Perfection: The ‘5 Daily Habits’ build momentum. Even if I can’t do the ‘big chore,’ just doing those 5 small things makes the house feel 90% cleaner.
- It’s Manageable: It turns an overwhelming project (Clean the House) into a simple, daily checklist.
If you’re struggling, I 100% recommend checking out Clean Mama’s full blog here!
This system truly changed my home and my stress levels.
