The 10-Minute Reset: My Secret for Beating the Wednesday Slump

It’s Wednesday. We’re officially over the “Monday motivation” hump, but the weekend still feels miles away. Maybe your desk is buried in paperwork, the kitchen counter has a mind of its own, or your Kindle library is feeling cluttered.

When the “Mid-Week Slump” hits, our first instinct is to try and power through. But for me (especially on high-flare days!), that’s a recipe for burnout.

The Hack: The “10-Minute Boundary

My favorite hack is the 10-Minute Reset. It’s not about finishing the whole project; it’s about claiming back a tiny pocket of your space.

Here is how to do it:

  • Pick One “Micro-Zone”: Not the whole house. Just the coffee station, your bedside table, or your email inbox.
  • Set a Physical Timer: (No, don’t just watch the clock!) Use your phone or a kitchen timer.
  • Move with Intention: Clear the surface, wipe the dust, or delete the junk.
  • The “Hard Stop” Rule: When the timer goes off, you stop. Even if you aren’t “finished.”

Why It Works

The 10-Minute Reset isn’t just about cleaning; it’s about momentum. It proves to your brain that you can make progress without spending all your “Spoons” for the day. It clears the physical clutter so you have the mental space to get back to what you love—whether that’s reading a few chapters of ACOTAR or finishing a new design in the shop.

My Reset Today: I cleared off my laser-engraver bench so I can start on some new wood engravings for the stores. 🪵🔥
