The First Step: What 84 Days in a Boot Taught Me About Growth
They say the first step is always the hardest. After 84 days of being non-weight bearing, I can tell you that the first step in two matching shoes is actually pretty terrifying—and absolutely beautiful. 👟✨
Navigating a 12-week recovery while simultaneously learning the language of Fibromyalgia and POTS has been the ultimate ‘Plot Twist.’ But as I stand at my newly rescued desk today, I realize that the boot didn’t just protect my foot; it protected my perspective.
What 12 Weeks of ‘Buffering’ Taught Me:
- Patience is a Business Asset: Just like I couldn’t rush my bone to heal, I realized I couldn’t rush the growth of StillSheCreates by outsourcing the heart of it. To get the quality and connection I want for you, I’m going back to my roots—handmade, in-house, and made with love right here at my desk. ✍️🩷
- Hydration is Non-Negotiable: My POTS has taught me that my physical ‘Command Center’ isn’t complete without a full tumbler of ice water. If I don’t take care of the CEO (me!), the business can’t thrive. 🥤
- Color-Coding the Chaos: My pen caddy isn’t just for show. It’s how I triage my energy. Some days are for research, some are for creating, and some are for resting. 🌈
The New Path Forward
To celebrate this new chapter, I will be officially re-opening my Etsy shop and refreshing the StillSheCreates website. Every order now comes with Free Shipping as my way of saying thank you for walking this long road with me.

We are moving Beyond the Label together—one step, one color, and one handmade creation at a time.
